Introduction

The ENLACE Central Region is based at he University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque and focuses on student success initiatives, family and community engagement, and leadership and professional development. The ENLACE Student Success Initiatives program believes that every student is a valuable member of the community and has the inherent capacity to reach their goals in life. However, students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds often do not have the opportunity to attain their full potential. These initiatives are designed to decrease dropout rates, increase high school graduation rates, and encourage low-income, minority, and first-generation students to attend and succeed in college.

The Student Success Initiatives serves as the mentoring component while the Family Centers constitute the family engagement initiative serving students from the Albuquerque Public Schools, Central New Mexico Community College, and the University of New Mexico. Together, these initiatives are driven by ENLACE's core values of inclusivity, transparency, and bottom-up change. The Central Region strives to change New Mexico's educational system to increase academic success.
